They do in other Trek Series. And they do in many modern armies etc.

I'm sure many would have liked to see female mud wrestling on the Enterprise but I suspect that it would have caused a bit of consternation among Trekkers

Miniskirts were OK in the sixties but as far as I remember, no female officer has worn them since TMP. Female rights and the roles of women has (gladly!) changed and Trek has always reflected that. Until now.

By the way, women in TOS did at least wear nylons to their skirts. Just sayin`.
