So sad. My sympathies to Ridley Scott and the Scott family.

Yeah, just read about this last night. Very sad. What makes it even more disturbing is that Ridley lost his third brother from suicide right before or during the release of Blade Runner. This is a very sad day indeed. He will be remembered!

I was quite surprised this morning to read the news about it.
But, since then reports have surfaced about what appears to have been a recent diagnosis of inoperable brain cancer and an orderly set of letters/suicide notes left behind. So, it very much begins to look like he knew what he was doing. If such a diagnosis proves to be the root of the event, I have to say I can totally see where he was coming from.

Yeah, I'd just seen that headline about his inoperable brain cancer...so I fully understand his desire not to live with such a thing.
Reading up about his successes, for a short while, he was actually more successful than older brother, Ridley. But then when Ridley did Gladiator, and other films beyond that, Ridley started getting the greater recognition, and suddenly Tony was being criticized for emphasizing style over substance. I think it would've been great to see Tony and Ridley work on some stuff together as brothers....directed by The Brothers Scott....but I guess their styles were too divergent, and there might've been some creative differences that could've led to set backs on such projects.
