Believe me, I'm not trying to start a pointless argument, but there is no Zil Dasen on IMDB...at all. And as far as Bergman, I assume you mean Ingmar? There are not many people out there of his caliber. Just one. And you just named him. That doesn't take anything away from Spielberg. Like being the best director of modern times....

Leathart,there is no argument,just a conversation between friends,people have different opinions,i greatly respect that,i am not saying spielberg is bad,his old movies like e.t,indiana jones,shidler's list were great,but honestly hollywood's run out of ideas and he cant save it anymore.Yes i mean ingmar,like him?

That's why Star Wars was nominated because Lucas gave us something that was never shown before and he did a damn good job of it. True, the Academy will more often than not go the 'traditional' route and plump for something safe but not usually exciting. Sometimes that works, sometimes not. But there's also very little 'new' in biopics or true life stories. They all usually work in a certain way and that doesn't stop the Academy lovong them!

I would have pulled for the original Terminator to receive an award had I not learned of Cameron's, ahem, "unauthorized adaptation" of two Harlan Ellison stories for the plot.

(For the curious but not-yet-informed, they are "Demon With A Glass Hand" and "For I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream."

Well, they actually had to acknowledge his previous works in the final credits when TERMINATOR was released on video, which means there was a legal basis for his complaint.
