Personally technobabble should not be watered down in any way since that it is a key component of Star Trek. If nontrekkies can't follow along then they have no one but themselves to blame because they should not have been sleeping in science class in the first place!

Ok, when was the last time you were in a high school science class and they talked about tachaeon emissions?
