I get what you're saying, Tsan. What about adding this to the scenario, though...

How many people would never have seen a rebooted Batman film or an Iron Man film before those came out and made believers out of previous-but-driven-away fans and newcomers alike?

I think if this TREK is a quality film from stem to stern, it will draw a lot of people to the theaters who would never consider themselves fans today.

We can hope, anyway.

Just a small note, Paramount no longer handle the TV Franchise. They just do the films. CBS does the Star Trek TV Franchise now, so it would be up to them.
