Dragging the thread back onto topic... there was also news yesterday that a lake of ethane was found on Titan, a moon of Saturn. While not Earth-shaking news in itself (we already had that in SoCal this week!), it does provide better proof of two main facets for the chance to find life elsewhere in our solar system (and by extension, elsewhere):

It is evidence that liquids can flow and gather like they do here on earth, which would be quite significant in any planetary body with water in its atmosphere. Ethane isn't water, but even on Titan it's staying liquid on the moon's topography, and so we can now extrapolate that the flow structures seen on Mars (for example) were logically created by liquid water when it was abundant on the planet. Liquid water forming pools, lakes, seas also boosts the chances that life might exist in them.

Another piece fit into the puzzle...
