I saw the movie when it came out all those years ago and I liked it except for all the patriotic crap in it. Then the series came out but it took me a long time to start watching it regularly. Finally I got hooked but I only watched it till about Season 8. Seems like when Jack left, the amazing chemistry wasn't there anymore. Plus, I cannot stand Vala.
I love SGA. I'm glad I toughed it out past Season 1 (which was okay but not great) because Season 2 and 3 were fantastic. The jury is still out on Season 4... ![]()

I really enjoyed the movie. Thought it was really good. James Spader was fantastic. As for the series, could never get into SG1, and I've watched a few eps of SGA most of which I have enjoyed...but it doesn't move me like some other stuff.

My recommendation would be to check out the two new movies coming this year. ![]()

I watched the Stargate movie back in the 90s, but didn't start watching SG-1 until 2004 right before Atlantis premiered. I've since watched every episode of SG-1 and Atlantis (up to season 3), so I'm pretty much hooked. :P

Robert Picardo joins Atlantis cast!
Jop it is true, Robert Picardo as ''Richard Woolsey'' will be the Atlantis expedition leader for at least season five. I think it's great news and I looking forward to see more Robert and ''Woolsey'' next year. More cast changes for S5 in article below: Code:

I was skeptical that I would like SG-1 but my wife and I bought season one on a whim. Just to have a new sci-fi show to watch. By the time we got through the first season we were hooked. I don't think anyone can fairly evaluate the show without watching an entire season. Start like I did and you will find that it's almost as good as Star Trek. I said "almost"!
I have also enjoyed Atlantis for the most part but SG-1 is my fave. I am looking forward to the two direct to DVD movies this year and the possibility of a third series. Kevin |

I like both stargate series quite a bit. They both have a real sense of fun. That might sound a bit corny, but both shows are, they are really fun, exciting and sometimes here and there they get pretty serious.
The Fifth Race, great SG1 episode. Can't wait for the movies, miniseries or whatever they're going to be. |

![]() I like the Stargate movie better. (The series is ok too, though) I just couldn't get past the whole "Hang on didn't Dr Jackson stay on the planet and how come he now looks completely different and... argh!!!" ... um.... thing. |

the movie's a riotous comedy movie, I nearly got thrown out of the cinema for giggling all the way through it. I loved the series though, much better and less preachy and better science too
