its always been a mystery to me why star trek 5 got so little backing from paramount especially given the trek 4 was such a monster hit. i think shatner was hampered in his attempts to bring his vision to our screens and it shows (although i do really love this movie). for me the fifth installement was classic star trek.

i was dissapointed with trek 7 overall and the meeting between old and new just didnt work - a great opportunity missed but the first tem minutes is excellent. i wish they had bowed out with trek 6.

i havnt felt the same way about star trek since the old crew finished, but i am, for first time since their time ended, am excitied about this new movie.
