Although I now live in Oregon, I was born and raised in Iowa. Flooding is endangering many cities along the Des Moines, Iowa and Cedar Rivers. Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Iowa, two neighboring towns that have been prominently featured in the national media is where I grew up. I attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City. And I was also a Cub/Boy Scout. So I feel for the families of the boys who were killed or injured when the tornado went through the Little Sioux Boy Scout camp in the northwest part of the state.

My husband's family is from Iowa, so this story has resonated with us. We're keeping good thoughts.
