Default The Most Thoughtful Trek Quotes

Inspired by the Movie Quotes threat, I present to you to the Thoughtful Quotes thread. From any series or movie, post what you believe are the most intelligent and important quotes of Trek and mention why. Quotes like "KHAAAN!" are not considered thoughtful, even though they are great.

From The Drumhead, Picard speaking about free speech:
" ' With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably.' Those words were uttered by Judge Aaron Satie as wisdom and warning... The first time any man's freedom is trodden on we’re all damaged."

From All Good Things... Q summarized Star Trek in this quote. No one before or after, I feel, has put into words succinctly what the writers/Q did in the last moments of the greatest episode of the greatest series.
"For that one fraction of a second, you were open to options you had never considered. That is the exploration that awaits you. Not mapping stars and studying nebulae... but charting the unknown possibilities... of existence."
