I'd like to see any small character of the 24th century. Like O'brian, who already played in two series, but didn't got any screentime in a movie.

But there mustn't be a 24th century character in it. However I hope we get to see a bit of Romulus in the 24th century, Spock still might be in the ressistance at the beginning.

Nimoy's Spock might be the only 24th Century character that appears but that doesn't mean that others, such as Captain Riker, won't be mentioned in dialogue. That's certainly the next best thing to them appearing, a nice nod to the fans. I doubt that any major 24th Century character will appear. Maybe a lesser known one, or perhaps a completely new character/characters.

If thats the case and Nimoy's the only real character then Nimoy's Spock role needs to be at least equal to that of Shatner in GEN and not superficial window dressing which is what I fear.

I don't think we're going to be seeing Time Travel in the sense that we follow Spock from the 24th century back to TOS time. I believe we're going to be seeing the story from Kirk/Spock's childhood up until the Kirk Era TOS, with Spock making a visit from the future or somehow his future self tieing (sic) in to this timeline, if that makes sense.

I could be wrong, but that's my personal prediction with all things considered. But at this time, all possibilities are endless.

I am all for starting the movie with familiar faces in the 24th century. At least that way, we feel that cannon has been respected and that they are not abandoning the current storyline completely. This way we have a re-imagined movie to draw in new fans and current fans of the most recent series will be satisfied as well.

Spock didn't do Generations because the role was too small and didn't do anything for the Character. If you read everything Nimoy has said about XI it is a major role in the movie, with real meat.
