Wow, those huge ship battles were awesome. Now that i think of it. We never see all of Starfleet's fleet ever in a full out battle. Or do we? I dunno, i've never watched all the movies before. But still, that's the only thing that kinda sucks about Star Trek. Then again, Star Trek is suppose to be about tolerance and exploration.

Cool quotes:

"Fuuuuukooooov!"

***ov...what does that name resemble?

"Info, compensate, do something!"

This is why I don't understand why movies cost so darn much. 150 million for the new Trek movie?!! This little video was well done, in my opinion, and while it may not be Hollywood quality, it is still good. How much better can special effects get for the big screen by spending millions of dollars?

To the Paramount/CBS "heads in charge", please give us Trek fans more Trek for TV!! It does NOT have to be big screen, high budget. A mini-series or made for TV movie would be nice if a new series is not possible yet.

Fair enough point, but I suggest one of the reasons is that these fan productions are cheaper because much of the labor is done for free, whereas a studio must pay everyone, and big ticket actors and directors and producers cost millions.

...not to mention the various 'off screen' guilds, studio staff members, accountants, lawyers, etc., all of whom need to make a living.

It's the same in any creative endeavor, so trust me, I know whereof I speak. Fan work is great, but in many ways, it also offers a much greater degree of freedom than the 'professional' efforts. People don't tend to realize just how constrained 'big business' can be in ways that 'the little guy' is not.

And not to forgett... licenses. A fan movie project doesnt have to pay for all sorts of licenses that cost a hell of money. And no one cares wether the used software for special effects is a legal copy or an illegal one. You dont need hundreds of subcontractors as casting agencies, studios, companies that rent all the equipment, the trailors. etc., etc. Then the investors that all want to make their 100 or 200 percent profit after a year or two. A fan project doesnt has investors, but donators.
