No, but I mean publicity wise leading up to the movie. I mean, don't get me wrong, I hope the movie does great as well, however I'm more concered with it if will attract the box office.

I think it is safe to say that everyone here hopes the movie does well. I am a little puzzled by "concered with it if will attract the box office." Do you mean people? Money? Praise? Attract what? Because I don't think you want the box office to attract itself.

Ron, all the studio really cares about is "How much did it make?"

If an well planned advertising campaign is successful, it can make alot of intrest in a movie and $$$$ in tikcet sales.

I personally feel if this moive is marketed more as a SF/Action film than a Trek film, it will help get non fans into the theatres.

I couldn't agree more... That is what I think is wrong with much of Trek. Lay watchers don't want to be 'Trekkies or Trekkers". They just want an entertaining movie. I think that is what this movie should be about. I sometimes think it is the diehard fans who ruin it. It's just a damn movie for crying out loud. I hope the movie makes butloads of money and that there isn't too much Trek lingo that bogs down the script. It can still be tech savvy without being pretentious. Have you ever noticed in other movies and shows in the Trek timeline, laymen have to have a dictionary just to watch it. For most, I bet that is not fun.

You can have all the tech talk and still make it viable, non fans will still know it's an SF movie, and be prepared for that.

But I still think, you seem to agree, that a more borad advertising approach, is the way to get non fans into the seats.

lol Of course not! When I mentioned the box office, I meant as in ticket sales. I could care less about the actual box office. Although I must admit, it is a relaxing place to read a book when there aren't any customers around. lol!
