Cool Cameras are everywhere...

If you think about where we are today, you can't really walk down any given city street without encountering one, if not several, cameras along the way. I think The Menagerie clearly covered this topic. Every ship has a detailed capability to record all activities in most areas of the ship. Would you not assume that the abundance of recording devices would multiply at least as fast as the technology? I think still and video recording of any given event or time or place would be a given... The only question would be, "Who is doing the recording?"

Who needs a camera when you've got a holodeck and viewports that can spontaneously close up on anything?

Then again...in TNG, didn't Data have a holographic picture of that one chick? Where are those blasted cameras?

The holodeck is fine to recreate a scene but you need to record the scene initially first.
