Talking Of all the official Star Trek movie magazines...

...why did this one have to say "Spectacular Special Effects" on the cover! Boy...were people in for a shock.

For the time the movie was made, and for Trek movies, the effects were great.

These effects were done by a private company owned by a Bran Ferran. The rest of the TOS films were done by ILM. The effects in II were spectacular! Along with I, III and IV. However, since there was the 1988 strike, ILM was unavailible for V.

Excatly, hmm they might have made a blunder, since people don't notice usually when you make a mistake, but then you talk about it and they people relize it, the same happens in music. Only us nitpickers figure it out.

Brian Ferran's effects weren't bad. They just differed slightly from ILM's way of doing things. I find it interesting that the "God Planet" in V bears a striking resemblance to the planet "Solaris" in the recent George Clooney remake... except that Ferran's version of the image was far, far less expensive to create.
