Now that we've seen the "warp core" can someone explain to me what those things flying out of the ship in ST2009 were when Kirk order the ejection of the core? I'd love to see the tech manual for this Enterprise. To fire up the matter/antimatter reaction, step one: insert hops...

No idea strictly, but I think I ended up thinking they were perhaps anti-matter storage pods.

They were the warp core pods.

The next TV Series should be called STARFLEET!

I liked the warp core. Thing I liked about it the most was that it was a real facility with some set dressing. Watched a few science/physics documentaries where they interview scientists that work there and the place looks great. They didn't do much to it at all in the movie except add some consoles here and there.

But I agree with starbase on the Return of the Jedi bit. That bit of it was right outta Jedi.
