For those futher interested in the story of Papa Palpatine, there is the novel "Darth Plagueis", his former master. Apparently this novel details the brief story that Palpatine told to Anakin at the Mon Calamari ballet in Episode III.
Episode III is my favorite Star Wars movie, just barely (oh so barely) edging out The Empire Strikes Back.

One of my favorite Star Wars novels that also dances around Episode IV is "Death Star". That book was quite a read.
