see where you are going, but with only one series, (1980 ahem) BSG wasn't as well established. Spock never carried out a romance. The odd fling and hormone driven alpha male contest versus kirk aside....dada da da da da da da dadada. (hope i counted the das right
Anyhow it's all a matter of taste. Like, red matter didn't bother me, or a "black hole" letting Spocks tiny little ship, and the behemoth Narada through at the start, but later on no ship can stand up to it, whats going on?
Anyhow here's another little nugget. CB and Eve, both starred in this, I enjoyed it when I saw it, but you might need to be familiar with the British quiz University Challenge to get the premise, maybe not. Needless to say CB and Eve weren't really on my radar back then, but worth a look. Prof X (McAvoy) is in there too.

Didn't see Weller in the trailer. But the whole, 'You think the world is safe' voice over makes me think this is about a xenophobic plot to show how Earth would be safer if it didn't go into space, (hence the destruction of the starfleet), and pursued an isolationist policy. What's CB getting vengeance for? I still think it could be linked in with Weller, maybe a family connection. Or, just putting it out there again, Weller went and found Khan, or engineered his own super humans to keep 'earth for the earthlings (lol)'.

I'm guessing that the memorial we see in the trailer is for Pike: "Harrison" attacks Starfleet and Pike is killed. Kirk goes against orders and pursues "Harrison." Action ensues. People (guest stars) die. Kirk and crew are brought closer together and become even more like family. Weller turns out to be the "real" villain somehow.

Regardless: I'm super excited to see this movie!

Looks like we got a few things right.

Plot points

Weller did go looking for Khan and found him.
Weller want's to start a war with the Klingons. Though the Klingon cameo, because that's all it amounted to, served no real purpose.
CB did want revenge against Weller.
I was wrong on Spock Prime dying, unless dyeing his hair counts. LOL.
Was wrong on Paxton connection, but think it might have given Weller more motivation for his actions.
