They don't count "Never Say Never Again" as 1 of the Bond films.

They don't because it was not produced by Eon Productions. There was a rights dispute regarding the novel Thunderball and that is why they were able to make Never Say Never Again. MGM now owns the right to it though.

I just watched Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007. It's a really cool little doc about the behind the scenes of the Bond franchise from Dr. No to now. Never knew "Eon" stood for "Everything or Nothing." There are new interviews with all the Bonds except for Sean Connery. Some really interesting stories, I highly recommend it for any Bond fan.

I still consider Never Say Never Again as a Bond film. I know it's not part of the Eon Productions or anything but still, it's with Sean Connery and he is back as James Bond and it was pitched to be a serious film so therefore I accept it. Also, it leaves Connery in a tie with Moore at both doing seven 007 movies.

I'm glad I wasn't around while Moore was Bond. Being born on August 1st, 1986, Dalton was announced Bond just five days later.
