Well, at least it was the toughest, most brutal warriors that got laid the most and passed on their DNA. We do have that image of ancient men clubbing women and dragging them back to their caves. And even Hoshi Sato said, as you may recall, "Some girls just go for the bad boys." But genetics in that scenario would tend to produce big, strong, no-so-pretty women, too.
