I didn't get a lot out of Raimi's movies. 2 was the only film that felt smart enough to forgive the cartooniness, let alone make that cartooniness work for the characters.

One thing that DID look interesting and that I thought was quite well done was the teaser for 'Man of Steel', which didn't give a lot away and yet still made me interested in it.

This of course, coming from someone who doesn't hate on 'Superman Returns' anyway like a chunk of the rest of the internet seems to!

Hmm... 'No' and 'YES.' The new teaser did nothing for me. However I quite liked Superman Returns, his stalker tendencies notwithstanding.

I might feel differently after I see TDKR again. My sleep cycle chose not to adjust itself to the marathon (as always seems to happen whenever I've bought my tickets in advance... remind me not to do that for ST), so by the time the third movie started I was in a really passive mood. The kind where you arrogantly slap your knee and go "Alright, impress me. I'm not doing half the work for you like I did for your older siblings, sorry. Life is unfair that way."

I had watched the two earlier films last week to refresh my memory on them.

I'm too much a sight-and-sound person to miss a movie I haven't seen in seven years on a big screen. All those shots so deliberately framed, those faces flickering at 24 frames a second...

I had picked up the Blu-rays last week as the box set was being sold cheap in light of the release. That said my cinema wasn't doing a watch them all thing that I know of anyway.

Saw it last night, I enjoyed it, perhaps not quite with the satisfaction of the other films but still good entertainment.

I had a real problem with many aspects of the ending I have to say.

The Talia revelation wasn't actually much of one I thought since there had been rumours that was who she was to play but basically all Bane end up being is her henchman. Yeah, he represents Batman's physical match but for me he was built up pre film as being more. And I really could not believe the ending they gave him. For me that was a real taking the easy way out moment just to get him out the way.

Talia seemed like part of the mechanics to bring the story full circle. But the last minute reveal was lazy. I think many would have second guessed it long before it happened.

(The interesting thing for me outwith the film is the actress supposedly denied that was who she was playing in the film in interviews. Does make me wonder if that kind of misdirection is being employed with some of the statements about who Cumberbatch is in the Trek sequel!)

I also felt that Hathaway was there just to give Bruce part of his arc.

But I felt one of the single stupidest slips the script makes is the Alfred/Florence conversation. Because to me, anyone watching the film and even slightly paying attention KNOWS the end of the film has just been told to them. Which meant by the time the ticking bomb plot plays out.............you KNOW it's not what it appears.

And I didn't quite swallow how one character knew Batman's identity. That was merely for the convenience of plot.

But it would have been nice to have Gordon's guilt and conscience explored more fully rather than the short thrift it gets in the film, and I have to say I did like he and Batman's final exchange. A nice little 'gift' from Batman to him in the end.

It's definitely not that I didn't enjoy the film, but I can't help but think the entire thing is below par for someone as generally praised as Nolan has been for his career.

I have no idea who Florence is, or to what conversation with Alfred you refer. Did I miss the entire movie? I've seen it twice.

I KNOW THEY ARE BUT OTHER'S HAVEN'T SEEN IT!!!!!

When Alfred talks to Bruce about how when Bruce originally went missing, every year he would take a holiday and go to Florence, and sit at a restaurant and hope that he would see Bruce there, but they would only nod at each other and nothing more, and Alfred would know that Bruce was OK, was living but had found a better life than if he returned to Gotham

How did you find it in isolation on second viewing?
