LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ernest Borgnine, the beefy screen star known for blustery, often villainous roles, but who won the best-actor Oscar for playing against type as a lovesick butcher in "Marty" in 1955, died Sunday. He was 95. Rest in Peace Mr Borgnine. ![]()

Yep, and making movies right up to the end. I guess that's what kept him going all his life. Perhaps the last of the Hollywood Old Breed.

Definitely of the old guard. Wish he could have gone on longer. But it was a good run.

Yes. An amazing man. Must be something in his genes.

Two old guards lost in very short time. Andy Griffith and now Mr. Borgnine.
Three roles I largely remember Ernie for: 1. Harry Booth, the reporter from Disney's "The Black Hole" 2. Dominic Santini in the series "Airwolf". 3. A Roman guard in "Jesus of Nazareth". RIP Mr. Borgnine |

From right here in CT, he was...
My favorite Borgnine part outside of Lt. Cmdr. Quentin McHale? New York cop Mike Rogo, the tough guy who butts heads with Gene Hackman's Reverend Scott in "The Poseidon Adventure." ![]()
