Does any physics geek know whether this Higgs field has something to do with Krauss
' notion that the universe started out as some kind of wobbly quantum fluctuations kind of thing?
On a more philosophical note, I think quantum theory shows us that the world is not complete but broken and full of holes. The whole is always more than the sum of its parts and the difference, the gap is where interesting things happen. Perhaps our consciousness (which makes no sense from a scientific point of view as any scientific explanation of a cognitive function implies that it does not have to be conscious; no other stuff in nature is, according to brain sciences we should be unconscious machines) does also exist in such a gap?
