There's growing demand from some retailers here in Australia about purchasing items cheaply from overseas. The retailers are complaining that they cannot compete, even with their own overseas stores. They intend to block those sites from access by Australian shoppers so that they are forced to buy the items from an Australian supplier. This often means a third more in price.

On a second front, USPS (United States Postal Service) is banning the shipment of any device that contains Lithium Batteries, ie IPAD's, IPOD's, Cameras etc. They claim these batteries are potential explosives and harmful to their handlers. etc.

SO is this the beginning of the demise of online shopping?

I buy a lot of stuff from overseas including software which is only available from online merchants that reside outside Australia.
