In fairness, you don't know what they are going to do with Khan yet. They could completely turn the character on it's head. Not that I'm a big fan of this news, I'm not. But we don't know what they are going to do yet.

I agree. Khan could be a rogue Klingon Augment with delusions of grandeur.

The most obvious difference between this film and Wrath of Khan will be obvious, Khan will have no reason to seek vengeance on anyone.

It'll probably be four if there's a third movie.

I doubt that they will connect the Augments with the Klingons. ENT has already done this too well. Then again the franchise is in full copy and past mode so anything can happen.
Talking about the Klingons, unlike the green frat girls or the Tattoomulans the Klingons have been fantastic in the last movie. So together with Cumberbatch they are a spark of light in this fanwank storm.

You're the master of prose as always Horatio. I too look forward to the Klingons, I'm wondering if Alice Eve is going to play some superb b*i*tch of a Klingon Commander hot on the trail of the rogue augments led by Khan and unexpectedly finds herself teamed with Kirk and Co.

They're closing in on 2000 comments over at Trekmovie.com mostly hating the idea of rehashing Khan.

Yeah, he hasn't spent 15 years in the desert with no toilet paper. We won't have to see him hiding his dirty hand behind that glove.

Believe me - you do not hire Alice Eve and bury her under heavy makeup!
