Seems like it's a little late to be talking unless it's a very small part. Anyway I saw this story on AICN and I'm not surprised Trekmovie.com jumped on it.
Nimoy giving his Vulcan salute at the shuttle landing seems like a bit much. |

Of course everybody would love to see Nimoy but I don't think it would be wise to extend the passing of the torch moment beyond one movie.

The most plausible way to return would be a story connected to the Vulcan fallout, but I don't know if that forms part of the sequel story.
That said, Nimoy does seem to be willing to do favours for Abrams (his little bits of work on 'Fringe' for instance) so who knows. It can't be a major thing IF there's anything real behind the remark.

As much as I loved Nimoy being in Trek09 I would rather he wasn't in the next one, I agree with Horatio in that the passing the torch was done in the 1st film and doesn't need to continue.
Is quite ironic though how he could be open for a cameo here when he refused to do one for Generations. |

I guess it could depend on what it's nature is.
If I recall from his '95 book he didn't do Generations because Spock would have had no real purpose in the cameo. It was meaningless in terms of the rest of the film. Which would have been true enough based on Scotty and Chekov's appearances.

Not in this movie. The next movie is a possibility though.

If he's there, I would hope that there would be a point to it. Don't just put him in there for the hell of it. I think I'm leaning towards Horatio's way of looking at it. The torch is passed, let the new crew have their spotlight now.

I doubt he will return, in fact, I know he won't return. I mean, filming is going to be completed next week in LA and San Francisco: http://www.onlocationvacations.com/2...san-francisco/
If they do include Nimoy, it will probably be just a small cameo (if anything). And remember how Nimoy didn't want to be in Generations because he felt it was a better exit for his character in TUC, then why have him be in this film if his character won't play a major part. I mean, if you're going to have Nimoy, have him in the movie for as long as he was in ST09. The only reason they needed Nimoy in the first film was to have something for the fans and to explain how this is an alternate universe and that the prime universe still exists (even though we may never see it again on screen).

Agree. We had Spock Prime as a nice send-off for that crew, but let them shine on their own now and see how things go.
