I'm thinking he's on the Tholian home world Tholia. A planet with a searing hot methane environment and probably lots of volcanic activity.

I almost thought that picture was of an action figure. Looks kinda cheesy to me. Iron Man crossed with Kirk's orbital parachute suit from Generations that we never saw on screen.
On a different note: I hope the engine room looks more like this: 800px-USS_Enterprise_engineering_concept_2.jpg I just found this pic. Had to post it. That would go a long way toward making me a lot happier with jj-trek. Not that he cares what I think
