Umm, wrong ethnic background? Hmm.

In Space Seed Khan is stated explicitly to be of Indian(as in, from actual India) ancestry. And yet he was played by someone of Latin American descent, complete with accent? I don't think ethnicity is much of an issue here. Plus, he has been genetically engineered. He could be played by someone of ANY ethnicity. And a British accent is more likely than a Spanish-American one?

Perhaps it is just me but a Latino like Montalban looks more Indian than a Brit like Cumberbatch. Not that it matters, it is very well imaginable that Khan is not his real name but a nickname that he got once he started to rule the East.

I suppose that a genetically modified human could look like just about any race, since they would probably be combining and manipulating DNA from more than one source.
