That would be nice… but we'll probably be in the midst of World War III when we get hit and that would end our squabbles permanently!

I fear that the second half of this century will be more violent than the first half of the last but I doubt that it will manifest in a World War. Resource conflicts (actually resource conflicts are already fought out in the guise of battling terrorism) and the usual violence associated with migration are on the horizon. Seems too localized and dispersed to lead to a World War.
Then again technocracy plus economic hardship plus xenophobia plus climate-change induced mass migration sounds like a way straight towards Fascism 2.0.

But as our favourite Denobulan would say, optimism.
