I totally agree. It seemed to me that they were just milking out those movies just to come out before The Avengers does. I mean, each movie should have enough effort to stand on it's own rather than rely on some up and coming movie to blow everything else away. In my honest opinion, I would not be surprised in the least if The Avengers doesn't do as well as expected.

I think The Avengers itself is perfectly primed to do gangbusters because it does have a fairly respectable built in programmed audience and the Superbowl spot seemed to go down mostly well.

It's probably looking at Iron Man style numbers at least and might even be second only to The Dark Knight Rises in terms of box office over the summer.

None of which means it will be any better than most of the lead in films, however. I'm just bored of the factory line that Disney (unsurprisingly) set up once they took over the Marvel entity. By the time we get to 2014 there will have been about 10 films all part of this Universe in only 6 years.

For me, it's overkill.

• Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross/Kenneth Gidson, an agent of Operation Outcome, described as "Treadstone, [but] without the inconsistency".
• Rachel Weisz as Stephanie Snyder, one the film's two main protagonists.
• Edward Norton as the film's antagonist.
• Joan Allen, reprising her role as Pam Landy, Deputy Director of the CIA.
• David Strathairn, reprising his role as Noah Vosen, the former director of Operation Blackbriar.
• Albert Finney, reprising his role as Dr. Albert Hirsch, the doctor responsible for the creation of Treadstone operatives.
• Scott Glenn, reprising his role as Ezra Kramer, Director of the CIA

The cast also includes Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac.
