As Joe Stiglitz (in my eyes the greatest economist of all times) rightly points out, the great thing about Krugman is that he stepped more out of academia than Stiglitz has and that Krugman has the guts to point out the BS.
That's the sad thing in an anarcho-capitalist age, our greatest minds gotta fight against the lies and bullsh*ttery of corporate-financed think tanks and thus waste themselves to some degree.
