Default Forbidden Planet FX Reel (Experiment)

Okay, here's something I just did using a demo version of FXHome EffectsLab software.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aM1J6gqN3k

I love "Forbidden Planet". It is by far my all time favorite movie...ever! The special effects were absolutely stunning for 1956. But the only thing that bothered me were the "blaster" effects. They were super cheesy. So I did this little experiment to try and upgrade the blasters to a more modern looking laser type effect. Now when you watch this, remember that this is the first time I've ever used this software. So it's not perfect. There are a couple of little foibles here and there. And unfortunately, there's no sound. FXhome doesn't edit sound, only video. You have to edit in your sound track later. And since this is a demo, there's a big logo and watermarks all over it. That sucks. It also sucks that I can't afford the full version. It's insanely expensive.

Which brings up another question. Does anyone know of any free or cheap software that has similar functions and features to the FXhome software? I really want to complete my Forbidden Planet update. But I don't want all the watermarks and logos.

Thanks!!!

Hope is a good thing. Your SFX Redux is pretty good.

Interesting. I'd like to see that movie done in this age, as long as Speilstein doesn't get his hands on it.

Oh no. No. No. No. No. No. No to infinity! This is one classic movie that the remake demons should stay far far far far away from. A modern remake would absolutely ruin this movie. I pray it never happens.

Yes. Just the effects. Not the movie. Think of it as "Forbidden Planet: Remastered". This is my all time favorite movie. I pray that it is never remade. There are some things that shouldn't be "re-imagined". Star Trek was one, The Day The Earth Stood Still was another, and Forbidden Planet is one. FP is the only one in my short list that is still untarnished. I hope it stays that way.
