Most natural disasters would only kill some of the life on Earth. A lot of other life could adapt. Whatever happens it would take a while for humans to die out as we're quite adaptable and we have long life spans. I'd certainly expect the numbers to reduce dramatically once we reach the tipping point though. That so many refuse to adjust behaviour to combat global warming (whatever the cause) is a pretty good indication that too many humans are reactive. Once the oil starts to run dry and the rain forests have been depleted too much we'll be a species in rapid decline where tribalism takes over. Genetic modification of plants is probably the only way forward long term.

The Earth has been around for a long time with more severe weather conditions than we see.

Humans have such infinitesimal and insignificant lifespans compared to the geologic of the Earth that we forget we've sprung up on the equivalent of a sunny few minutes in the afternoon.
