The thing I like about the new Bond is that he brings back the idea that Bond is a dangerous guy. He has intensity, and he comes across as a bit of a sociopath. Bond is supposed to be dangerous. Moore was anything but.

Dark and gritty male characters are great. I think you need that nastiness to establish the world he lives in. Never like Moore as Bond – too campy for my tastes – watched them all though and will continue to do so. When Moore was doing the Saint and Persuaders I thought he had what it would take to make a great Bond – I was only 50% right.

Was I way wrong. Keeping with the times, it added a grit never seen and I loved it. Solace was a let-down, but Royale was amazing to me. The got me hook, line and sinker.

NuTrek not so much, but I am hoping for a better story this next time, you never know.

I was very much let-down with Quantum of Solace, and I hope the next Star Trek film will be an original story and not Khan-oriented, let alone having it be in 3-D. Same goes for the next Bond film. Keep Bond, Batman and Star Trek non-3-D!

What I don't like about the new Bond is that they made his trauma explicit. It's not like you couldn't guess that Bond is so distanced and flirtatious because he has fallen in love in the past and been deeply hurt.
The character doesn't become more real when you show what can be guessed. Same as Hannibal Lector, you don't need a prequel that explains the character.

That said I nonetheless like Craig's Bond.

I'm watching Licence to Kill right now. Yeah, I thought that Owen would have been a great choice. He was offered before Craig, but he didn't want to do it due to the fear of typecasting.

His loss… I guess… a few of his latest roles have shown that he could have done it.
