Licence to Kill didn't do well either. It had a very poor advertising campaign along with the unpopularity of Timothy Dalton as James Bond.

Timothy Dalton rocked as Bond. Connery, Dalton and Craig are the bad boys of the Bond movies.

Dalton is my second favorite, behind Brosnan. But yeah, 1989 was full of competition. I mean, I almost wish that Paramount would have allowed Shatner to make his own director's edition. It would have been awesome, in addition to allow Paramount to rise up in sales with their DVDs. Oh well...
