In retrospect, I never understood why Winona Ryder was promoted..............she never had more than a cameo really.

Aha! Because nobody knew it would oly be a cameo: So they could promote her as much as they liked!

I believe they trimmed some of the Spock backstory down a bit, including miss Ryder's role

Even going by the deleted scenes though, there wasn't much extra there..................unless (like NEM) there's even more deleted material than what was on the DVD/Blu-ray release of the film.

It's sort of like the first Scream movie where they promoted the hell out of the fact that Drew Barrymore was in it and then they killed her off in the first five minutes

Man, that's spooky!

I'm watching Scream right now as I muck about on the laptop! I'm making my way through all three films this week in prep for Scream 4 this weekend!

It's the flick I'm looking forward to most so far in 2011................I just hope it's more like 1 and 2 and less like the 3rd.

I think the long break in between 3 and 4 probably bodes well for the film. Plenty of time to replenish and refresh ideas. Also, since they always sort of pick on horror movie cliches, horror movies have changed over the past few years so there is plenty of new stuff to pick on!
