Default "Star Trek" -Greatest 1 Hour rerun ever !!!

As a huge "Star Trek" fan who is also a fan of TV nostalgia,
I think it needs to be said that "Star Trek" was the most successful
"rerun" or syndicated 1 hour program of all time.
When you look at the shows that have been rerun successfully
it is mainly the sitcom that comes to mind. "I Love Lucy", "The Honeymooners", "Gilligan's Island", "MASH", "Cheers" and "Seinfeld" have and probably will continue to be rerun well into the latter half of this century. Half hour sitcoms lend themselves to the short attention span of the audience or at least the programmers sense that the audience has a short attention span.
One hour shows have always been a particularly hard sell. Some of the shows that have been syndicated over the years include "Mission:Impossible", "Quincy", "Murder She Wrote" and of course, franchises like "Law & Order".
None of these shows were ever able to sustain the long term ratings that "Star Trek" was able to maintain. It was, in my opinion, the Greatest one hour show of them all !!!

I think that's a fairly solid claim!

True...they've been on for a long, long time. But "Star Trek" ran in prime hours in the prime markets for 20 years plus. In NYC, "Star Trek" ran on Channel 11 at 6:00pm from the time it went into syndication till the "Next Generation" took over, late 80's.
Shows like "Bonanza" and "Gunsmoke" while great shows, no doubt, ran as filler in afternoon time slots and even in the mornings at times. They run nowadays on "Nostalgia" channels or as part of All Western marathons. "Star Trek" gained ratings for the channels that ran it and that's why it was always airing in a key slot like 6:00pm.

I think TOS still runs on TVLand and TNG is actually premiering on BBC America soon. Voyager and DS9 are still on SpikeTV, I think. TOS-R went off a while back as far as I know. I don't see it anymore on CBS. But I have all 3 seasons on DVD so I can watch anytime. But I agree, Star Trek is absolutely the greatest of them all. No doubt.
