It was a hard thing for Lucas to do. The original trilogy had very little politics. It was hinted at and mentioned from time to time but it was mostly about the journey that Luke, Han and Leia went on.

Then we get to the prequel trilogy where Lucas now has to set up the universe we've already seen. He has to do it in a different way than before to keep it fresh. Politics has to be a major player now because we've hinted that politics is what caused the Jedi to be extinct in the first place.

There were too many mistakes in the prequels, like having no relatable characters, Jar Jar Binks and CGI muckery©

It's too bad because there was so much potential in the prequels. Ultimately it was ruined by bad writing. I agree with alot of what these reviews are saying.

My order is.

Empire (not even written by George Lucas)
Star Wars
Jedi
Sith
Menace
Clones

I find it funny that the only Star Wars people universally agree is the best one, wasn't even written by Lucas...lol
