After mucho mucho rumour 24 has been canned and will end with season 8.

I have to say, that although I used to love 24 (particularly the first three seasons and to an extent the fourth) I really drifted away after watching Day 5 because it was starting to get just too stupid - obviously it was pretty far-fetched from Day 1 anyway, but eventually it just went through the same motions too many times.

I think it's time it ended now while it has mostly fond memories attached to it - and there's always the possibility of a film version.
