What I liked about the Ferengi on DS9 was that they took this failed villain and rather than just discard them out of hand, they embraced them and made them an integral part of the universe.

The spin-off shows tended to do that, take one part the previous show had introduced and run with it. TNG took the Klingons from the Original, DS9 the Ferengi(+others), Voyager the Holograms, and I was going to say that Enterprise came back to the Vulcans, but really I think the Andorians were more of a highlight with that show.
Well said. Pitty they did not start to focus more on the Vulcans and Tellarites much earlier in ENT.
I also like the Ferengi episodes, they were always fun and a great human self-parody. Greedy capitalists, patriarchic gnomes ... that's us or rather an ugly side of us which we like to sell as normal.

So nothing on the Top Ten/100 fan favourite/worst lists.

But the episode that you, you know - "get", whereas others don't quite see the appeal of it.

Then I'm gonna watch them.
"It's Only a Paper Moon"

I love this episode because it yet again showed how the show runners of DS9 were so devoted to character episodes focusing on non principle actors.

Mine is Minefield from Enterprise. I love it! I got my Son really good over this very thing. I was showing him my new ornaments and talking trek. I caught him rolling his eyes. I said Son, you go out and shoot innocent animals and hang their heads on your living room wall!!! I don't. I prefer Star Trek! Believe it or not, he shut up!!!!!!

Minefield, and the episode after it are ones I feel should have been done in Voyager...but I loved it in Enterprise... I love the conflict between Reeds more militaristic viewpoint and Archer's humanistic view point.

It's Only a Paper Moon, classic!!!

Animals are nicer alive...

I love Dramatis Personae -- actually I love all of the last four episodes of season one and especially The Forsaken.

But the truly "guilty but fun" episode for me is The Passenger.

"Far Beyond The Stars" has got to be one of Trek's best episodes with stellar performances.

Indeed, 'The Passenger' is very much a guilty pleasure episode!
