(which I have to say I wasn't keen on anyway but agreed to go to).

First, the depictions of Damian Lewis's internal brain as a big warehouse with labelled boxes equalling thoughts was idiotic. Then the worst screen performance ever by Morgan Freeman was testing my patience (this was by the time the guys were out in the woods). One of them gets taken over (I think, it was 2003 after all) and Tom Jane's character is out in the woods. He 'senses' (because they all have a link somehow) the other character is coming and then looks and goes to himself 'but you're not.....'

Ludicrous crap - I actually did stand up and walk out the cinema at that point. I have never seen another frame of that film.


Also -

The Matrix - Emperor's new clothing. Nothing actually remotely new, just dazzled up with fancy groundbreaking effects to disguise the fact that it's empty. And the Wachowski's knew that from the start.

G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra - Well, the opening scene with the guys ancestor was a pretty bad omen. So I just treated the rest as an out and out comedy. It was a good laugh all round.

Ang Lee's Hulk. It was so bad that it kinda left me in awe...

X-Men 3 really sucks (but thankfully I didn't see it in the theater).
Spider-Man 3 was okay when I first saw it, but it basically killed the entire franchise for me upon the second viewing.

I loved seeing the Hulk. The rest was utter, drawn out crap. The second one is FAR better.

Let's see, mine was BATMAN BEGINS. I can't pinpoint an exact scene, the whole thing just felt all wrong. The music, the mood, the acting, the dialogue, it was all messed up. To be blunt, I had loved all three of the previous Batman films prior to Batman and Robin, and I thought that they didn't need a reboot, they just needed to make a better new film in the same franchise.

I guess it is that for all the preaching in the film about "Batman is a symbol", BATMAN BEGINS did everything to contradict that very statement. In contrast, I found that the first three Batman films did a far better job of depicting Batman as a legend and an iconic figure, someone who was "more than just a man". BATMAN BEGINS, Batman was too human. He was no longer an icon, or a symbol. It is the symbol that attracted me to the franchise, and I lost that sense that this was a legendary figure, not just a man.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that Batman Begins is nowhere near as good as all the hype suggested. Burton's movie did the origin in such a brilliant manner and thankfully didn't take FOREVER to do it. Begins is just an origin story kicked into overdrive. Dark Knight didn't have to deal with that and was automatically much better because of it IMO.

The Burton Batman's are fine - Batman itself had quite a bit less to say about the psyche of Bruce Wayne (whereas Begins decided to go there more) but both his films are still pretty good.

The problem IMO was when the hack Schumacher came onboard.

But, a couple years down the line I have to say The Dark Knight doesn't work on repeat viewings quite as well as it did on first show. It's got too much it's trying to do (which shouldn't be a complaint but a film needs to balance itself) and it ends up kinda rambling about the more you watch it.
