I hear ya. But mark my words, the day will come when the glasses won't be necessary. That'll happen for home viewing before it does theaters. And sooner than we expect, I'll wager.

Yeah, that's the development I'm waiting for myself. Once that happens, I would take a closer look at it. But until then I'll keep it for the movie theatres!

For the anti new uniform/to military crowd:
In TOS:
Starfleet uses Naval ranks
Starships are called ships
Starships are armed with state of the art weaponry
Starfleet employs detachments of security forces armed with light and heavy weapons.
Starfleet is the primary peacekeeping force for the Federation
When war was declared the Enterprise led the charge into battle with a fleet of federation ships with it

In other words… STARFLEET IS THE MILITARY.

That is not to say that they do not do science and exploration as well, but geez… all you utopia purists need to realize that most of Trek shows the federation as the military.

If you want the Enterprise to be a science ship… remove the phasers, torpedoes, and all military references…

As for the topic at hand, I think that ST:TWOK was the best story of the TOS films, but it lacked in writing and in some respects direction. I would rank the films as following
