Was watching the TNG ep. Relics the other day and i thought it would have been interesting to have seen some Guinan and Scotty interaction considering they should have met when the Enterprise B saved her ship from the energy thread. It would have been really cool to see scotty be like i remember you and not feel as old and outdated since he actually knew someone else aboard the ship.

It would have been pretty incredible, especially since Relics was filmed in 1992 and Generations was produced two years later.

Well i know that. but you would think that they would have already written a script and had started filming or something of the like considering i'm sure it took longer than two years to make a movie. So assuming that is true. Then the TNG writers could have thrown it in.

True, it would have had us all wondering "How do they know each other?!" And Relics was filmed after Time's Arrow, thus establishing that Guinan had visited Earth's past. It would have been a nice tease, but I think it would have been too sophisticated for Paramount to think to do that.

No, the Generations script didn't start to take shape until long after that episode has been produced I'm afraid.

Generations didn't really start work until early 1994 and was produced and released all in the one year.

It's just one of those things.

Relics could have done with being a bit longer in the real world, the Dyson sphere was great high concept sci-fi but I think it took time away from exploring Scotty's situation, like a scene of him talking with Troi that was left out. A subtle look of recognition in Scotty's eyes when he saw Guinan in 10-forward would have been a nice nod to the upcoming film... though as Kevin said that wouldn't have worked with GEN not being in the pipeline till a year or so later.

Relics and Generations had more than just the Guinan conflict. In Relics, Scotty says he knew JTK would come for him. In Generations, Kirk "died". Scotty would have known that. Unless, that is, he was a bit floopy from being in a transporter loop for so long, a bit hung over from the "night before", or just going a bit red in Helsinki. Whatever that means.
