I thought blind side deserved to be there...but inglorious basterds did not. I liked d9 as well but didnt think it was better than Star Trek. Havent seen avatar yet but from everything I heard, it is visually heart stopping but really lacked any good story. I know a lot of you say the same about Star Trek but I dont agree with that at all. I thought the story line held up well and was a good one. Guess I just look at things differently.

I expected it to get nominated but never expected it to win. I think they just refuse to put Star Trek in a best picture category.

Agreed on Quentin and Inglorious Basterds.

After I saw it a couple weeks back I thought it was fine and very typically a Tarantino film but I can't really point to anything in it that makes it particularly Oscar-worthy as far as I can see. IMO only.

It doesn't really matter - just one I don't agree should be there.

I'm a big Tarantino fan but I thought Basterds was overrated. I was surprised it was so popular. I guess people want brutally kill Nazis vicariously. Sadistic for some, cathartic for others. Alot of people feel it's his best work but I don't think it compares favorably to Pulp Fiction or especially Kill Bill!

I haven't seen it, but it really doesn't look appealing at all to me. I enjoy Pulp Fiction and doubt he'll ever top it.

Like I indicated, I think Kill Bill's his best work. And I like most of his stuff.

The first scene in Basterds is beautifully shot and isone of his best, IMHO, but the film as a whole...I prefer his first, Resevoir Dogs.

I haven't seen Basterds yet, but it's in my Netflix list and should be here soon. His movies are mostly good, although I hate From Dusk 'til Dawn. I love Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, The Kill Bill Movies and Grindhouse though.

When I think of Tarantino films I tend to think only of the ones he directed, which Dusk til Dawn is not one of. I don't hate FDTD, though. My god man! it's got Salma Hayek as a stripper doing an exotic snake dance in a thong!That pretty much makes it my favorite movie that I don't own! But seriously, from Resevoir Dogs thru Kill Bill his film making got better and better then with Grindhouse, which he only directed half of he seemed to've vectored. I still like his work but for me he peaked with Kill Bill.
