Strange holes in the nacelles... and the neck looks even more fragile than on the D7.

I can't speak for Deg, but as you also have open nacelles (i.e. you can see the warp coils) in the NX class, perhaps the holes and open nacelles are meant to reflect a general retro / 22nd century era design philosophy?

Open-so-you-can-see-the-anatomy is something very different. I just think that such a large hole in a nacelle makes it look fragile.

I have nothing against the design or your (really amazing!) skills, but as a fan of the Klingons I don't like the thought they could use ships that might just "fly apart then!", to quote Sulu

Knowing John and having had many long talks with him about conceptual design, I'd venture to say, his likely response would be something along the lines of; Just tryin' to come up with something different and interesting, while keeping a sense of tradition intact.

John's talent/abilities never fail to amaze me, to come up with all the stuff he comes up with, as well as being able to draw it all sO well. Me, I love his D4 design, bow-to-stern, obviously.

BTW, thanks for the nice words about my site, horatio. Glad you like it.

Great The Offspring quote, too. That and The Measure of a Man, are two of my fav TNG eps., along with, The Inner Light.
