Although I did see the second more action packed and plot explaining Avatar trailer which is far, far better than the ho-hum first one.

I have a feeling it might do quite well.
I just saw it, plenty of destructive eye candy. It was fun.

I forgot - John Billingsley (Dr Phlox) is also featured in a supporting role throughout the film.

I would say that is a fair assesment. It was about what I expected it to be, fun mindless eye candy. I thought that it was better than other movies of it's type like Day After Tomorrow or Independence Day.

Yeah, I was reading a couple other reviews of it and it pointed out - quite correctly, I think, that 2012 has virtually the same plot as The Day After Tomorrow, and to an extent Independence Day.

Moreso The Day After Tomorrow - if you put them side by side they're almost identical, except 2012 doesn't blow it's CGI wad halfway through, it just keeps it going til the very end!

Bah! I have yet to see it! I'll make it an effort to spend a day next week to just watch everything that's out now. I'm so cloistered with stuff to do that I'm clueless! I need to rebuild my cinema watching experience... so I know what the heck people are talking about. The last two movies I saw were District 9 and Julie & Julia. My movie watching choices are night and day, lol.

Which reminds me - did anyone who has seen it think that the Arks at the end were a little Galactica-like in design?
