I have just applied for the beta but doubt I'll get accepted as I don't really do any gaming.

They are still signing up for the Beta and the real game comes out in February.

I'm not sure that matters based on experience with other betas. You'd think they'd want to test with folks who're on all the time but while that works fine for debugging it wouldn't tell them anything about how the game will balance out concerning hardcore vs casual gamers. Usually what they're after is a smaller representation of what they expect when they go online. You may be picked over someone who claims to own twenty online games and plays every moment of their pathetic life.

I did wonder about that. Presumably it has to be relatively easy for a non-gamer to get the hang of. I tried an online space game and I was just so confused I gave it up after the first go.
