I'm way behind the times. I didnt think there were workable bluray rippers/decoders available.

I suppose its the same reason for having a lock for your car. A thief who really wants your car wont be deterred by it. But it would stop the casual thief who only looks for unlocked cars.

I'm curious, when you download the file, isn't it in AVI format since the Blu-ray file would be way too big? I've always wondered about that...

the 1080p online are in mkv format.

Same difference... This is far from being Blu-Ray quality. I just don't see how you can bring an mkv file to Blu-ray quality. Do you have to convert it back to Blu-Ray after the download? I thought it was impossible to do that. I just don't understand how it works...

I don't think this forum is the place to discuss how but it can be done: the mkv format can hold up to 1920x1080p video and HQ AC3 audio.

For $30 I'd rather have proper disks and get all the extras but priorities differ.
