I just found this thread....Eris, you are someone this board needs...please don't abandon us. I don't read the novels either and while I'm pretty expert on episodes, that mostly because I've been watching them for 40 years (no special skill...just age). So, ignore the snobs!

I will say that I'm probably one of the looser cannons around here. I just think, if you post something stupid (not merely in error...that's understandable, but stupid like "gays are akin to child molesters" or something) then you absolutely deserve to get virtually slapped upside your virtual head and told how stupid you are...sorry if that's not nice enough for everyone.

While it's never fun to see a board degenerate into nothing but sniping, it's equally "un fun" to see a board stagnate in a sea of "niceness"...

Teasing is great, especially with a European person. LOL

Yep...Sir num nums and The Doctor....
I don't think I've helped either. I should have shut down some of the debates alot quicker. Some people can't find any agreement.

It's hard to find agreement or just interesting discussion when everyone's just trying to one-up eachother.

That's one of the problems.
Let me tell you I'ts been hard swallowing the sense of pride and bowing out of many of these discussions but it gets easier the more you do it.

It's not going to go any where so you pretty much have to realize the futility.

Agreed. People around here have (for the most part) been generally quite good at staying civil, at least.

Wouldn't it be great if we could keep it that way?

Eris: If you do end up reading this... (doubtful, but possible.)

It makes me sad that you are leaving. For my part, I love a good chance to debate as long as the debating remains cordial. (Not much chance to get halfway intelligent discussions in the "real world") Hope you will still be sticking around somewhere.
