I have to admit to not having watched any other Star Trek movie nor have I watched TOS so I came without preconceptions and thoroughly enjoyed it. Though, from what I know about TOS and the other 10 movies, I can understand why many long-term Trekkers would have a problem with it.

Someone mentioned the water tubes. They reminded me of Charlie and the Chocolate factory for some reason and seemed a bit odd even to the uninitiated.
